about
AACME Today
AACME is a group of around a dozen folks that share an interest in old bikes and
putting on one big show and swap meet a year. Although members have changed over the years
the spirit of the original members live on and we continued to put on that one monster show
almost every year for more than twenty years.
History and the Old Timers
AACME originally known for putting on a show called the "Old Timers Picnic", the first that
occurred at Squaw Peak Park in May of 1979.2nd 1980 3rd picnic at Fountains Hills park
trouble occurred when a group of 1%ers rode on the grass, a point the people of fountains
Hills had made a point of not allowing, i.e. keep off the grass. After this show many of
the Old timers organizers decided the show was getting too large and difficult
to control
and did not want to sponsor it due to liability issues.
AACME was started by gorman, binder, others and had its first event, a picnic, as an AACME
function in March of 1983, at
Estrella Mountain Park.
The group continued to met through late 83-early 84 and organized and held the first show
in March 9184.(Where?)
Charter document exists from 1984, club officers contacted the AMCA which was
unresponsive.
They then contacted the AACA< which sent a representative, gave guidance for bylaws and setup
of club, set up AACME as region member of AACA, provided insurance. (When?)
